Here is all the audio from my gig at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Grill Jazz on Saturday evening May 28, 2016. I love these gigs put together by Vibrato’s artistic director, the great Pat Senatore. For these evenings are what jazz is truly about. I never know who’s going to be on the band. Imagine my surprise finding on the bandstand: drummer Mark Ferber in town from NYC, visionary pianist and good friend Joe Bagg and of course the venerable master bassist Pat Senatore. For the evening, I decided to re-visit some of my favorite jazz standards and compositions from my favorite jazz composers. This is supremely honest and pure music in the raw moment of creation, by jazz musicians coming together for the first (and probably last time ever) without any rehearsal; truly creating great jazz in the moment. I hope you enjoy listening in.
