This blog’s a short one.  For background music for this blog, [it’s all about the music after all, right?] here is the link to our YouTube DFQ@Vibrato 4.1.17 Playlist of our recent performance at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Grill Jazz in Bel-Air, CA on the evening of April 1, 2017.  It starts with that night’s “masterpiece,”  “-In Your Own Sweet Way”:

Vibrato Grill Jazz Playlist 4.1.17

In thinking of the title for this blog, I decided to part two the blog about our previous performance at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Grill Jazz as it is kind of a follow-up or continuation of our October 15, 2016 performance.  The main difference, as you will notice, is that our April date is primarily standards where our previous October date was primarily originals.  Initially, I felt kind of weird posting the entire gig up on YouTube as well as the last couple of performances.  I’m not that important of an artist I think.  And I sure don’t want to be accused of overwhelming  folks with too much material.  But after reading a recent article in the LA Weekly by Tom Meeks, LA Jazz Clubs Keep Closing I was able to place doing this in perspective.  This is a new era in music with the demise in live venues, record stores etc. and today’s musicians have to create new and different formats for getting our music out there.  After all, that is the point of it all; -to have one’s music heard and hopefully enjoyed by the public.  For me, it’s never been about money, -never EVER!!!  I can make way more money doing other things than what playing jazz in America pays!  So there you have it.  Plenty of DFQ to listen to on my YouTube channel!

This was a great night, and was packed for both sets!  Below are some photos taken by the great LA photographer Craig Johnson to give you some flavor of the evening as you enjoy listening to the playlist!
